SPOKHAND x DEAFLYMPICS - Interview of Clement (France, Handball)

Sep 11, 2025

Introduction – Meet the Athlete

Hello everyone, my name is Clément, number 74.

I’m 22 years old, and I’m proud to represent my country at the Deaflympics 2025 in Tokyo.

Come and join the interviews! 🎥

Preparation – Training for the Deaflympics

Clément’s journey is built on determination and discipline:

  • Months of preparation leading up to Tokyo

  • A personal coach for both physical and mental training

  • Intensive practice to sharpen his skills and mindset

This rigorous program ensures he arrives at the Deaflympics stronger, faster, and ready to compete for the podium.

Communication – Between Two Worlds

Clément navigates seamlessly between Deaf and hearing environments:

  • With hearing teammates, he uses a cochlear implant and hearing aid to hear and speak effectively.

  • With Deaf teammates, he removes the devices and communicates naturally in sign language and visual cues.

This dual ability allows him to build bridges, showing that communication is not a barrier but a strength.

Message – Chasing the Dream

“My goal at the Deaflympics is simple: win a medal.”

Beyond medals, Clément carries a powerful message:

“I believe that all Deaf people – and anyone in the world – can achieve anything with handball.

Nothing is impossible. We can do it!”

Inspiring the Next Generation

Clément’s story proves that perseverance and belief open every door. By competing in Tokyo, he inspires young athletes in the Deaf community to dream big and push their limits.

The Deaflympics 2025 is more than a competition – it is a global stage for inclusion, talent, and resilience.
